Duolingo ABC (or Duo ABC) is made for young children by Duolingo who are starting to learn how reading and writing work. The lessons cover things like letters, phonics, simple words and vocabulary, but they are broken into small activities so children don’t have to sit through a long lesson. A child can trace a letter, listen to a word, move things around on the screen or read a short story. It feels more like playing with an app than sitting down for a traditional lesson, which can make it easier for younger kids to stay interested.
A Lot of Little Lessons to Work Through
There are more than 700 lessons covering different parts of early reading. Some focus on recognizing letters and sounds, while others introduce sight words, vocabulary and basic reading comprehension.
